Avon & Bristol Law Centre offers specialist housing advice for people in Bristol and the surrounding area. If you have applied as homeless to the local authority and feel that an incorrect decision has been made then we may be able to assist you. We cannot advise on Homechoice banding. More info

We advise on issues such as homelessness and the threat of homelessness, housing benefit, rent arrears, landlord & tenant problems, private renting, repossession action by landlords and security of tenure, housing conditions & disrepair, overcrowding, housing & relationship breakdown, domestic violence, racial and other types of harassment, applications for social housing and supported accommodation. Housing advice

Shelter provides independent and confidential advice and support. We can help you if you are: 1. Living in run-down, dangerous or overcrowded housing 2. Facing homelessness or are worried you could become homeless 3. Having problems with your landlord (both private landlords or local council / social landlord) 4. Facing eviction or repossession 5. Unsure how the benefit changes affect your housing 6. Dealing with priority debts, negotiating payment plans or want help managing a budget Within our team with have legal specialists who are experts in housing law and if you are eligible for legal aid they can give you free advice and legal representation. We also offer specialised support services for people who are living in unsuitable accommodation or who are facing homelessness. Our skills support service can help with things like finding or preparing for work. Our DIY skills Adviser can assist you with managing small repairs to your property. More info

Every day we hold drop in service from 9.30am - 12 noon. No appointment is necessary, but you may need to wait to be seen. We also offer pre-booked appointments throughout the day and you can call us during our office hours.
